We require credit card details when you book our fully-flex rate but only to secure your booking. We do not ask for full payment up front. Payment for your stay and any extras you have taken whilst you are with us will be required when you check out and not before.
Yes – whilst we really hope that you won’t need to cancel your booking, on our fully-flexible rate, as long as you cancel your booking before 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. If you do need to cancel simply give us a call on 01729 822203.
Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.
Yes, Character Rooms. £25.00 additional charge per night. All our rooms are very individual and offer the same home comforts throughout – but a couple will give you that extra inspiration you need to jump out of bed in a morning. Just let us know if you’d like to book one of these when you make your reservation.
No we take a credit card to guarantee reservations and our cancellation policy then applies.
3pm – if you’re planning on arriving earlier please let us know and we can do our best to try to accommodate this for you.

Yes, we have both available on request, free of charge. Additional guests over the age of two are charged.
The bar opens from 11.00 am to 11.00pm . Monday to Sunday.
Unfortunately we don’t have any parking at The Golden Lion. However, there are three pay and display car parks in the town all close by, the nearest is Ashfields car park. Guests can pull into our gated area to unload their belongings. We have maps in the reception area that we give to customers showing the car park locations.

Unfortunately due to the historic nature of The Golden Lion building we are unable to offer bedrooms located on the ground floor.
Yes– We are a dog friendly inn with dog friendly rooms. Your four-legged friend is very welcome, all we ask is you bring your own dog bed and towels out of consideration for the other guests. We do charge £15 per stay for your dog to join you in your room (this will be added to your bill on check-in); this is so we can give the room the extra special attention needed afterwards to ensure it is pristine for the next arrivals.
We love to welcome well-behaved owners and their dogs to the inn, but please be aware that not everyone loves your dog as much as you do. To help us keep happy customers of both 2 and 4 legged varieties please observe our simple requests:
– Dogs are allowed in the bar area, but not in the dining only areas
– Please don’t let your dog jump or pester other guests, or their pets or disturb others by barking
– Make sure your dog is clean and dry before they come in to the inn
